Presented by Bob Bertles
All That’s Jazz – “the best of Be-Bop and beyond” – is a representation of jazz from the birth of be-bop to current times. It includes music not only from the USA but from Australia and arond the globe.
This program lets the music do the talking.
Born in Newcastle, Bob has been well-known profile from the mid-50’s, when he played at the legendary El Rocco. Playing with leading rock bands Johnny O’Keefe and the Dee Jays and Max Merritt and the Meteors, he went on to join top British band Nucleus from ’69 to ’76 and toured around Europe.
By the late 70’s he was back in Sydney to play concerts and record with the Col Nolan Quartet. Lead his own group Moontrane in the ’80’s and toured the USA with the Australian Jazz Orchestra in 1988.
The Bob Bertles Quintet and Ten Part Invention are his current projects with two of their albums released on the Rufus label.
You can find Bob touring Australia regularly for performances at various jazz clubs – and the occasional Eastside Radio Festival!
