Jammin’ Sunday

Sundays 7 – 10am

Presented by Ken Weatherley

Ken WeatherleyKen’s three hour program provides a smorgasbord of jazz listening and is a fine way to begin your Sunday.  Jammin’ on Sunday, gives our listeners a ‘smooth awakening’ with jazz across the spectrum.  This relaxing program captures the lazy mood of Sunday mornings. Setting the perfect backdrop for reading the paper, having a coffee, or just spending time with loved ones.

Interspersed with the music, there’s news of some interesting gigs coming your way. Together with the occasional news story that the mainstream media may have overlooked.

The program is enjoyed by a wide range of listeners, including those who are normally outside the ‘jazz heartland’ too!

Music that’s not ‘too heavy’!  It’s jazz, just the way you like it!

Ken Weatherley Ken’s introduction to broadcasting started several years ago at 3AW training college Melbourne, where he had the opportunity to learn most facets of radio.  Shortly after that period, he joined Melbourne’s first community station, known as 3ZZ which was operated by the ABC.  His Saturday evening ‘Jazz Scene’ program ran on that station for about two years.

Shortly after moving to Sydney, Ken joined Eastside Radio during the late 80s.  The station had only been on-air about two years at that stage, and he assisted a couple of the presenters with production.  Occasionally, he was ‘stand-by presenter’ on some of the now-defunct ‘FM in the AM’ early breakfast jazz programs.

For around three years, he presented ‘Music to Midnight’ every Saturday evening on Eastside Radio.  And midway through 2003, Ken who has been a long-time friend of this station, brought his years of experience and community spirit to the former Saturday morning ‘Jazz Jam’ programs.
