An evening dedicated to celebrating the innovative, new and weird folks of the alternative scene. Immerse yourself in the offerings of these incredible artists from the realms of dub, world, electro, percussion and twisted folk. More than a concert, this is a full-tilt festive experience across two rooms and a courtyard filled with tasty treats.

DUBMARINE :

Brisbane’s high-powered, high energy, dub, sub bass dance machine Dubmarine are making a rare appearance in Sydney for FUTURE FOLK, featuring their trademark bass-driven foundations, twin trombone blasts and thunderous synth explosions. Led by the vocal gymnastics of indigenous superstar and Darumbal man D-Kazman and the cosmic Billie Weston, Dubmarine have a mission: to produce the sound and fury of electronic music live, in all of its bass crunching, rhythm pounding, hip shaking, fiendish glory.

CIRCLE OF RHYTHM :

Circle of Rhythm is a collaboration between three of Australia’s most respected, virtuosic and unique percussionists; Greg Sheehan, Bobby Singh and Ben Walsh, known individually and collectively through their work in groups such as Taikoz, The Bird, Utungan Percussion, Skin, Pablo Percusso, Dha and many more. Expect a powerhouse of razor-sharp, precision beats: from the high energy, fast-paced drumming styles of Japan and Polynesia, to the ethereal and spiritually uplifting sounds of India, this ensemble boasts a full spectrum of styles and instrumentation that will leave you breathless.

MATIU TE HUKI (NZ) :

He was the founding member of the NZ roots band Homefire Burning and has performed alongside Fat Freddy’s Drop, Rhombus and Pitch Black.
