Cubanisimo is the only radio program in Australia dedicated purely to the music of Cuba. A 1 and a ½ hour weekly show that highlights the breadth of Cuban music, from Folkloric and Traditional to Cuban Salsa and Cuban Jazz.
Cubanisimo has been at the forefront of promoting Cuban music and culture on Eastside Radio for over 11 years, attracting an extremely large and varied audience.
Martin Taylor is a graduate from The Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music Education degree.
He has 20 years of experience in Latin music, performing with ground breaking groups such as Salsation, Batuka, Saraguey, Sandunga, Café Sur, Barrio Salsa, Son Veneno, Mecanica, TNT Latinoz and Armandito y su Trovason as well as musical director of specifically Cuban influenced groups Charanga Libre and Mojito.
He has also performed in Latin groups in the UK, Italy and various parts of Cuba on trombone, bass guitar and percussion instruments.
He has also been musical director of tribute groups for famous Latin artists, Hector Lavoe, Willie Colon and Ruben Blades as well as the ‘Fania Allstars’.
For more than 10 years Martin has conducted Australia’s only weekly radio show that concentrates entirely on Cuban music.
He is currently the musical director of the 15 piece Latin orchestra Mucho Mambo featuring some of Australia’s best Latin and Jazz musicians.
