AFRO Brazilian music!
Vibez tonight will be celebrating the presence of African culture and heritage in Brazilian music and most of all the freedom of expression for artists in general.
The idea of this program tonight was sparked by an event reported last Saturday on SBS Radio Portuguese.
Representatives of Brazilian community in Sydney censored three Brazilian artists to act in the Brazilian Festival that took place in Darling Harbour on the 18 of September. The reason for censoring was based on the content of their music containing references of African heritage and religion and the presence of conga drum.
The three artists prohibited to play in the Brazilian festival were Aline Calixto, Alda Rezende and Flavio Renegado, three exponents of the new generation in the Brazilian music scene. To refresh your mind, those Artists were brought by Pura Vida Latin American Music Festival that was a national showcase of extreme talented music artists from 8 countries of Latin America.
My idea tonight is to dedicate this program to those Brazilian artists who probably left Australia with a bad impression of the Brazilian community in Sydney, to the African heritage and culture, which constitutes together with other cultures and heritages the formation of the Brazilian Culture that we know to present.
