Bellyache Ben brought his Steamgrass Boys onto The Showdown, to discuss bluegrass, beards, and colour-coordinating your sunglasses to another band member’s shirt. The boys also performed live in the studio, complete with beautiful 4-part harmony.

Being percussionist for local Frank Zappa tribute band Petulant Frenzy, Ben’s selections included a good whack of vibraphone players, and obviously some Zappa, alongside country music, Toto, Lalo Schifrin, John Barry, as well as songs used in TV shows and ads – of course the original versions, before they were destroyed by the TV show or ad.

Anyway thanks again Ben, look forward to having you back on The Showdown some time in the future…
