Tomorrow evening The Conscious Pilots will give us an exclusive interview before their performance at Eastside’s Live at 505.

So tune in to The Groovescooter show at 6.30pm and join us this Thursday at Venue 505 to see them “for real” on stage.

With all members having travelled nationally and internationally in various bands and artists The Conscious Pilots sure have some experience on the road and in the air. They’ve created a fresh new sound described as Aviational-Jazz-Hop.

These seven sky masters travel through genres as if they were perpetually circumnavigating the musical globe, infusing their jazz groove base with Oz Hip-Hop, Andalusian flamenco, Latin tumbao, Drum n Bass and Bee Bop.

Supported by old skool hip hop masters The Big Payback.

For more information about the next Eastside Live at 505 and to win a double pass, click here!

Eastside Radio is getting ready for a sweet dose of funk, latin, jazz and rare grooves when we welcome DJ Maestro LIVE on air on Groovescooter, this Tuesday 10 January, 6.30pm-8pm.

The legendary Jazz DJ from Amsterdam will be doing a guest set with Gordon ”Savage Gee” Watson between 7-8pm.

With a mixture of vintage records and contemporary classics, DJ Maestro is best renowned for his remixes on the Blue Note label.

Blue Note has recorded jazz giants such as Art Blakey, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock and Eric Dolphy. DJ Maestro is the only DJ to work with Blue Note, and with the archives of the legendary Jazz Label, has released 9 albums under the name Blue Note Trip.

He is associated with all things related to funk, latin and jazz in the Netherlands. He is the founder of Dutch station Jazz Radio, the artistic director for the Swingin ‘Groningen Festival, and started his own record label (Dig This!).

With rare grooves and breaking tunes he has brought all of this to Australia’s shores this summer, so if you haven’t managed to catch him- tune in!

For the last dose of DJ Maestro this week, you can catch his final Sydney DJ set at Hunky Dory Social Club on Wednesday night!

So get on the trip:

iOTA, one of Australia’s most enigmatic, talented and original singer/songwriters, always wanted to be a rock star. Then the moment he became one, he freaked out. In hindsight he admits that it was a pivotal moment in a career that e mbraces six ARIA Award nominations, four albums, seven singles. Then another opportunity loomed when musical theatre presented itself and iOTA was cast as the lead in …Hedwig & the Angry Inch. He needn’t have worried as he took to the stage with gusto making a stunning theatrical debut which has earned him a Helpmann Award for Best Male in a Musical as well a Sydney Theatre Award for Best Performance in a Musical and a Green Room Award for Best Performance in a Musical.

Hear him tonight with Georgie and Paris on Groovescooter (Tuesdays 6.30pm) on 89.7FM

iOTA is playing live at the Carolyn Shine fundraiser at The Basement, Sunday 24th July 2011..

Local musician Carolyn Shine is battling cancer, and a large chunk of the Sydney music scene is rallying to support her as she undergoes chemo. A fundraising event presented by thepartypeoplecollective should help her to ride through a rather tough time. This is for a mighty fine cause, so don’t miss it and try to help one of Sydney’s fine musicians, Carolyn Shine. Just go there and help with buying your ticket ($25), enjoy great music and probably win incredible raffle prizes on the night!

Sunday 24 July @ 8pm for only $25!

At The Basement.

All proceeds of this event go to assisting her with medical expenses.

Featuring: iOTA, Junglehammer, Matanza, Temple of Groove, Lily Dior, Merenia, Mitch Anderson, Rebekah Jensen, Paula Baxter
