Jane Raffan is Principal of ArtiFacts, an art services consultancy with a special interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art. www.ArtiFacts.net.au
Jane has over 20 years experience in the professional arts sector and has been actively engaged with Indigenous issues for over 25: curating independent exhibitions, working for the Art Gallery of New South Wales, and also the fine art auction industry.
Jane’s academic training was in art history at the University of Sydney, where she recently also completed post-graduate studies in law, concentrating on ethical dealing in art and cultural heritage; she is an accredited art valuer for the Australian Government’s highly vetted Cultural Gifts Program. Jane also writes regular art market commentary, critical articles on Indigenous art and politics, and the occasional travel piece.
Jane’s interest in radio began long ago, when she was first interviewed on air about Aboriginal art. She came to Eastside presenting the ‘Now Showing’ segment on Sylvia Rosenblum’s Art Wednesday program, and stood in for Sylvia as a guest presenter in May and June. The five shows Jane presented were indicative of the range of her interests: from tattoo to photography and portraiture; from Aboriginal art to ancient history; and from contemporary art to conservation and environmental issues.
The cross disciplinary focus of Jane’s programs will continue as she presents Arts Monday fortnightly, along with a broad range of Jazz, blues and world music and the occasional surprise piece or two.
Tanya Dombkins is a live television producer and qualified solicitor.
She brings fun, energetic and insightful interviews to our listeners.
If you miss her on the radio you can find her in the boutiques of Paddington or the small bars of Darlinghurst.
