Showa 44, founded in 2001, has recently the reputation as one of Australia’s foremost creative ensembles. It has released two CD’s of improvised duets, boosting its popularity via national and international festivals. Featuring Carl Dewhurst and Simon Barker, Showa 44 utilise tuned metallic resonances, rhythmic densities and spontaneous invention via electric guitar and percussion to manifest compelling and evocative soundscapes.
