A Taste Of Honey October 25 2012

A key component of a long recording and performing career is the ability to continually create something new and attract new fans while ensuring that you doin’t alienate your core audience.Diana Krall (pic.left) has done exactly that with her new album ‘Glad Rag Doll’ which features songs from jazz of the ’20′s and ’30′s that she found going through her late fathers collection of old 78′s and the show  features two of those tracks.Linda Ronstadt(pic.right) who commenced her career in the entertainment business in the mid ’60′s has recorded with artistes that range from Billy Eckstine to Frank Zappa to Nelson Riddle and music that ranges from folk to rock to country to jazz to Gilbert and Sullivan and in doing so has achieved (amongst many nominations) 11 Grammys,1 Emmy and 1 Tony as well as 38 top 40 singles with several #no 1′s-far too many distinctions to do justice to,in a 90 minute radio show- and listen for more Pomus/Shuman and other Brill Building greats in weeks to come..best Stu xx

About the Author: Love my music..anything with a great melody, arranged with either a BIG orchestra or a quality acoustic guitar......I enjoy passionate performances.. by the artiste(s) -that is always the main criteria for my choice of the tracks that make up the programme.....versions of great old songs and new songs that enable a response,a smile,a memory of a time and a place,to groove a little... ...many years of executive management in the entertainment business in NZ,Australia,Asia Pacific and New York enabled me to immerse myself in music and people....my two indulgences and I hope the music each week brings you some of the same responses.
