A Taste Of Honey September 6 2012

Hal David, passed away on September 1st,2012 aged 91.What an amazing legacy of lyrics he has left music lovers forever. With Burt Bacharch, who he met in 1957 at the Brill Building,Sherman Edwards and Albert Hammond(pic together left)he wrote some 700 songs .He will be remembered for some of the most enduring lyrics of 20th Century popular music and also together with Bacharach ,for recognising  Dionne Warwick’s talent(pic left)when she was a gospel group backing vocalist and they asked her to ‘demo’ their songs and her 40 year career was born. His lyrics helped to make the careers of-Sandie Shaw,Dusty Springfield ,Cilla Black,Sarah Vaughan and give Herb Alpert his first #No 1 single ‘This Guy’s In Love With You’-somewhere in your collection are Hal David songs and I have endeavoured to fit most of the hits and some other compositions into 90 mins-an impossible task for this master songwriter but an enjoyable one to say the least…RIP Hal David xx

About the Author: Love my music..anything with a great melody, arranged with either a BIG orchestra or a quality acoustic guitar......I enjoy passionate performances.. by the artiste(s) -that is always the main criteria for my choice of the tracks that make up the programme.....versions of great old songs and new songs that enable a response,a smile,a memory of a time and a place,to groove a little... ...many years of executive management in the entertainment business in NZ,Australia,Asia Pacific and New York enabled me to immerse myself in music and people....my two indulgences and I hope the music each week brings you some of the same responses.
