Glass Inlay Fragment with a Mask from New Comedy – Egyptian, 1st century AD. Sir Charles Nicholson acquired this tiny glass inlay fragment from the weekend antiquities market in the Campo de’ Fiori in Egypt – a forerunner of the modern car-boot sale. The fragment depicts the theatre mask of an old man as worn in the performance of New Comedy. Courtesy Nicholson Museum, University of Sydney.
