A Taste Of Honey August 9 2012

Given that LOVE is one of the most common themes of the creative arts, the thought occurred to me to theme this week’s programme around exactly that – LOVE.Not difficult as this  emotion has inspired  songwriters from all music genres from the beginning of the craft and the difficult issue is what to play in a ‘one of’ themed show-so I went for tracks that are taken from musical poetry by  Gordon Lightfoot interpreted by Peter,Paul and Mary(pic.left),Rod McKuen interpreted by Tom Jones to Keely Smith(pic.right) singing Sinatra with a lot of LOVE in her voice-he gave her away at her wedding -The Beatles loving Indian Music for the first time- Chet Baker always open to a love song-Diana Krall doing her reverse love song-and the vocalists’vocal group,The Four Aces with their  never surpassed #No 1 version of ‘Love Is A Many Splendoured Thing’-this had to be in the list…..love Eastsidefm!..let us know what your favourite lovesong is-I do requests!!!!

About the Author: Love my music..anything with a great melody, arranged with either a BIG orchestra or a quality acoustic guitar......I enjoy passionate performances.. by the artiste(s) -that is always the main criteria for my choice of the tracks that make up the programme.....versions of great old songs and new songs that enable a response,a smile,a memory of a time and a place,to groove a little... ...many years of executive management in the entertainment business in NZ,Australia,Asia Pacific and New York enabled me to immerse myself in music and people....my two indulgences and I hope the music each week brings you some of the same responses.
