Eric Gyors | Aug 29, 2012 | Comments 0
On Wednesday Drive (Sep 5th) all the candidates for the very lucrative & important position of Lord Mayor of Sydney will be live in the Eastside studios to answer questions about why they believe that they would make the best candidate for the position.
Some of the questions posed to the candidates will be ones sent in by our trusty listeners …. but others will be pulled out of the hat & (hopefully) we will be able to question our prospective Mayor with these little gems.
So be sure to tune in between 4:00 & 6:00 pm next Wednesday!

About the Author: So who the hell is ERIC GYORS anyway ? Well, seeing as you asked…… Originally classically trained on the cello at the age of 4 he discovered the blues when he turned 10, conned his father into buying him a guitar and started playing gigs for money in rock & blues bands two years later, while still at school (much to his dad’s disgust and forcing the neighbours to wear ear-muffs). Having studied psychology, philosophy Eric decided that he preferred music to psychosis, so he went back to playing the blues – unfortunately the psychosis bit may have followed him. One night at a gig, after a little too much to drink, he lost a bet and finished the night playing the bass, which led to his eventually becoming a studio session bass player. Eric has toured extensively, with well over a hundred bands and many single artists, which means either that he is extremely versatile or alternatively that quite a lot of people decided that he was a real pain to keep working with (hopefully the former!). After being side-tracked into all sorts of different areas - running a late night jazz club, a stint of international commodity trading (Russia is seriously cold in winter!) and becoming a community activist he wound up as a state & federal campaign director for a large political party. After advising politicians for more than 10 years Eric decided it might be fun to hop across the fence and to interrogate them instead, and thus he joined the worthy crew at 89.7FM Eastside Radio in 2005, where for all the sins he perpetrated in his previous lives he has atoned by subjecting his victims (sorry, that should read ‘guests’, to close to 2,000 interviews and an in-depth extremely personal series on politicians private lives. He currently continues to fight for justice, freedom & the Australian way (but unlike Superman he can’t fly & does not have x-ray vision). Aside from spending way too much time at 89.7FM, you can also find Eric at ‘www.intheforum.com’, a political video news hub, with all the latest on why it is that you should love your politicians for screwing up the country & your life and on Facebook, where he desperately needs some friends. You can also follow his exploits on Twitter, where he is affectionately known as “Captain Eagle” (well he thought it was a good name, even if nobody else did!). His personal website & blog are about to be launched, which will no doubt mean that in the very near future he will probably be talking to you from behind bars (not necessarily the drinking kind). Eric’s idea of a good time is to turn all his mobile phones off, read a good book & play the blues preferably in a small dark & dingy club that respectable people cross the road to avoid. Regrettably he hasn’t managed to do this for some time now, so until he does he’ll do the next best thing, which is grilling politicians on air during the drive show (Wednesday 4-6pm…be there!). Eric loves to get feedback from listeners, you can call him at the station (02 9331-3000) or email him at ericg2@optusnet.com.au - positive ideas & suggestions are always welcome, negative stuff should be directed at the station manager who is much more thick skinned and is much better at anger management. Thanks for listening.
