About the Author: GEORGINA REED Georgina has worked in the music and entertainment industry for over 20 years as a club DJ, radio announcer, promoter, event coordinator, publicist, graphic designer & artist, and has a wide range musical knowledge and a multitude of contacts in the industry. She’s worked in advertising, marketing, radio stations, newspapers, and many major Sydney venues. Her one-off events involve booking the venue and entertainers, creating artwork, writing and producing radio & print ads, booking advertising space and doing the event marketing, promotion & publicity, organizing staging and the myriad of other steps necessary for an event to run smoothly. At her events she has showcased many new and unknown musicians who have gone on to become some of Sydney’s leading entertainers. Georgina commenced her first radio show in 1989 on 2RDJ 88.1FM in Burwood Sydney, called ‘Soul Trax’. The 2-hour soul music programme continued for over 10 years. In 1992 she joined Chatswood station FM99.3 (then known as FM91.5) and until 31 May 2009 she presented another 2-hour music show ‘Soulscope’ dedicated to soul, funk, jazz, blues, Latin & groove music. After a two-month sabbatical, in August 2009 she was invited to join Eastside Radio 89.7FM to present another 2-hour music program. Along with her partner and co-presenter Peter March, Georgina now presents ‘A Twist of Cool’ from 12noon to 2pm each Wednesday. The 2-hour program showcases well-known Australian and international artists plus up and coming new and talented musicians. Celebrity guest musicians are regularly invited to appear on the show to discuss their music career, latest release or performance and play live where possible. Subscribers are given the opportunity to win CDs or tickets to the artists' current show. The weekly gig guide highlights those bands & artists appearing or touring during the forthcoming week showcasing and in keeping with the music styles played on ‘A Twist of Cool’. Other regular segments include artists’ birthdays, interesting local events, music industry information and giveaways for 89.7 subscribers To contact Georgina: e: georgina@mixbiz.com For more information: web: www.mixbiz.com
